Psaki Dodges More Question Than She Answers

The explosive crisis in the Middle East is worsening at a more rapid rate than ever, in large part due to the fact that the Biden administration has now utterly personified the “deer in headlights look.”

After all, Biden has apparently gone from not trusting the Taliban at all to unbelievably seeming to think that the transnational terrorist organization is going to help ensure that Americans trapped in the nation are able to have “safe passage” to the airport.

Straight from the mouth of the supposed National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan.

“The Taliban have informed us that they are prepared to provide the safe passage of civilians to the airport, and we intend to hold them to that commitment … [The Biden administration is] in contact with the Taliban to ensure the safe passage of people to the airport.” [Source: Fox News]

Well, good to hear that the Biden administration is “in contact” with the Taliban. Was Biden also “in contact” with them before their address from the presidential palace in Kabul?

On top of that debacle, Press Secretary Psaki apparently can’t be bothered to answer rather deadly serious questions, such as whether or not all Americans currently trapped in the country will be able to return home safely by August 31.

Psaki’s reply?

“Our focus right now is on doing the work at hand and on the task at hand … And that is day by day, getting as many American citizens, as many SIV applicants, as many members of vulnerable population who are eligible to be evacuated, to the airport and out on planes.” [Source: Fox News]

Well, that’s a delightfully vague response. Glad she cut her vacation short to come back and issue more generalities and absurdities, rather than actionable information.

Conservative radio host Jason Rantz certain let Psaki have it in this regard, noting that the Biden administration seems to have a stunning lack of concern for the fate of Americans trapped in a nation mired in turmoil due to Biden’s rather abrupt withdrawal.

“Just wow… that Jen Psaki can’t simply commit to helping get all Americans out of Afghanistan after August 31 is stunning…absolutely stunning.” [Source: Fox News]

Stunning indeed.

What’s even more stunning is the fact that thousands upon thousands of Americans remain in the nation, yet Psaki apparently believes that her flippant reply is more than sufficient.

After all, consider the commentary from Washington Post writer Josh Rogin, who confirmed that upwards of 10,000 or more Americans may remain in Afghanistan.

“An administration official who was not authorized to speak on the record told me that there are an estimated 10,000 U.S. citizens in the country, with the vast majority in or near Kabul. Some are residents, journalists or aid workers who may not want to leave.” [Source: Breitbart]

Great to know Biden has such a stellar plan in place for their safe evacuation.

Needless to say, Robert O’Neill, one of the men on the Navy SEAL team that took out Osama bin Laden, is decidedly unimpressed with Biden’s approach.

“So, @POTUS is a disaster … This is the worst loss in American history. Our most popular president has vanished. Prove me wrong … Joe Biden opposed the raid to kill bin Laden. At least he lost Afghanistan in 7 months.” [Source: Newsmax]

Good to know that Biden was also opposed to the Navy SEAL mission to take out bin Laden. No wonder he withdrew from Afghanistan as abruptly as he did.

Unfortunately, to the grave detriment of the nation, as noted by Donald J. Trump.

“I don’t think in all of the years our country has ever been so humiliated … [Afghanistan is the] greatest embarrassment in the history of our country … I don’t know if I would call it a military defeat or a psychological defeat; there has never been anything like what’s happened here … This has been the most humiliating period of time that I’ve ever seen.” [Source: Newsmax]

Given all the events that Trump has seen over the course of his lifetime, not to mention during his own presidency, these are strong words indeed.

However, Trump, as usual, seems to be right on point in his analysis …
